Those green handshakes....I never had much, but when I received a " look of horror" from a CO when I mentioned overtime they quit. OT always was because something had to be done, never be cause of the boss being generous. I always needed the money and not for vacation or a boat

Money! How much did you "Contribute" To The WTB@TS When You Were A Member
by The Bethelite ini was in full time service for six years including bethel.
once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.
i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.

The Environmental Cult
by cofty ini believe the environmental movement has many of the hallmarks of an apocalyptic millenarian cult.. urgent predictions of doom and fear-mongering.
utopian ideology.
us v them, good v evil mindset.

I am skeptical on the human portion. What caused the large changes in times past? Some of the solutions will harm society; and if you want to see environmental damage, just look at any large scale social upheaval.
Things like carbon credits just transfer money to those who can afford it.
Cant give away my location, but pollution follows wind across state lines, so maybe all states east of California should sue them for having large population and forest fires. Ozone going up because of smoke from california will not be solved by restricting autos in Santa fe

50 month to local, never to big bro. The assembly has the machines which are not up all the time so it is easy to forget.
Related, how many times did you get roped into Feeding the speaker? I used to deduct whatever I was coerced into from the box money. At times I could bare fed myself

Looking quickly Tyler was pretty. The list I found showed everything from childhood pictures to whrn in the office so it is hard to judge. The earliest are paintings so there may be some artistry hiding things. Jackie was world known for beauty. If we could find pics of all them at age 30 it may help.
As for men JFK was good looking, it is harder to say as I don't look at men the same way a woman would. Maybe grant with his beard?

Who else provides all this spiritual food?
by StephaneLaliberte intwo days ago, i experienced a spiritual epiphany while visiting the library of a catholic university: i was shocked to find thousands of religious literatures produced by the catholics and protestants in the last few hundred years.
someone could easily spend a secluded lifetime trying to read them all.
for years, i was told by my religious leaders (jws) that the catholics and other religions did not provide spiritual food to their members.

They pick up popular ideas and run with them. Remember the " way" talks and articles? Then the charismatic religions came with the same, even naming a bible translation that. At the time I thought there was copying going on, but misunderstood who did the copying. They used to quote things like Vines, now they just say " a bible scholar", probably meaning freddy, or else a half quote from something

If You Could Live In Any Era or Decade What Would It Be?
by minimus ini kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.
it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?

Early 1800s. IF. I could keep some of my modern knowledge and modern medicine. Otherwise I would be dead or at least crippled from a childhood disease, wife would have died from appendix, cancer, or what have you children may not have lived so now ain't all that bad

Would You Stop Buying A Product Because of Political Differences?
by minimus inwould you stop buying nike products because you didn’t like their politics?
conversely, would you give business to a company because you liked their political stand on a matter?
would you stop watching an entertainer because you disagree with their political perspectives?

it becomes impossible to sort it all out, and there are shades of grey in most of it. I will buy cakes from a Baker, go through checkers wearing hijabs etc.
Remember Joan Baez and Hanoi Jane? No matter what your view on Vietnam it was still beautiful folk music and a good looking woman so I didnt let vitriol ruin my enjoyment

14 kids from the same old congregation
by StephaneLaliberte inthis week, while talking with some old friends, i realized that there were at least 14 kids from a congregation in which i grew up that all left the jws.
that is, 30 to 35 years ago, there were at least 14 kids going to the hall that were of the same “generation” (5 to 13 years old).
in the last 30 years, they have all left “the truth”.

The upper echelon know it. That is why the special parts on retaining youngsters, caleb n Sophia, and push for baptism to lock them in.
They dont do anything about insane comments about education, getting a job, having an attractive spouse, all the things that drive anyone with intelligence away

Publisher numbers versus baptised witnesses.
by amandm ini grew up as a witness, and left about 10 years ago, i'm currently researching witness numbers for a project i'm working on, and i can't seem to get an accurate number of baptised witnesses - hardly a surprise!
from their website it looks like they list the number of publishers instead of the number of baptised witnesses, so it totally works to obscure how many actual witnesses there are, apart from the fact it's morally dubious to class a publisher as a minister of god as they refer to publishers on their uk section of the site.
i also am trying to work out how many leave every year, even approximate figures would be great, from their own website it just looks like they try to massage figures to make them look as favourable as possible.

Dont forget all the old ones who cant see to drive at night, are too crippled to sit In Luxury seating, and just plain dont have time to drive 40 minutes to the consolidated hall. The plodding meetings dont help either
How many of still going will not encourage a study or householder to really convert, we secretly envy them
